Medical foods
FDA Regulated Medical foods only physicians can prescribe – these are not over the counter dietary supplements
We are pleased to announce the addition of medical foods to our list of products and services. These products are specifically formulated to aid in the nutritional management of a variety of disease states, including cognitive disorders, obesity/metabolic syndrome, hypertension, pain and inflammation, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, asthma and sexual dysfunction.
Facts about medical foods:
- Medical foods can only be consumed or administered under the supervision of a physician. They are not dietary supplements and cannot be purchased at a health food store. See FDA Guidance for Industry
- Medical foods is a regulatory FDA category and comply with FDA guidelines
- Medical foods are intended for patients receiving active and ongoing physician supervision
- Medical foods are formulated to meet distinctive nutrition requirements of a specific disease or condition
- Medical foods supply the neurotransmitters that are needed to help restore depletion associated with certain disease states
- They improve the efficacy of commonly prescribed medications, usually resulting in a decrease of prescribed medications and associated side effects
- Medical foods are non toxic and non addictive
- Side effects are rare and short lasting (occasional complaints of mild stomach upset, mild headaches or mouth dryness)
